Come with us now, on a journey through time and space, to the land of Old School RPGs! Gamers of all experience levels welcome!
LAST TIME ON BARBARIANS OF THE RUINED EARTH:
While the group battles the Strange Dinner Party guests, Rath reappears at the bottom of the pit trap, saving their bacon but, alas, not Crunchy’s. (Not to worry, the group has a means of bringing him back.) Stumbling upon, and into the shelves of, a pantry, many were-pickles are freed from their glass prisons (also known as jars) but they are not dispatched before infecting Blork, the former velociraptor, and Glizzlegus, the now pickled sorceress. A game show is won, a toilet is discovered, and a repentant Borkibok heaves a writhing mass onto the floor as Barbarians of the Ruined Earth continues... IN SEARCH OF THE UNKNOWN!
Today's trip into the OSR is going to be a continuation of "In Search of the Unknown" using "Barbarians of the Ruined Earth" by Mike Evans of DIY RPG Productions. The game itself will be hosted virtually on Roll20 but in person participation will be available. If you intend on participating in person, please register here: https://boone.libnet.info/event/5253528.
WHAT’S THIS?
Barbarians of the Ruined Earth is a quick and easy rules-lite post-apocalyptic heroic fantasy game that is based on the awesome The Black Hack rules by David Black and is inspired by the animated series Thundarr the Barbarian, Mad Max, He-Man, and other sources.
THE CORE MECHANIC
Every action a character might possibly attempt that could result in failure is resolved by testing attribute stats; in order to successfully test a stat, a player must roll below it on a d20. Enemies don’t make tests, instead a character must avoid their attacks by making a test. The only time an enemy would roll is for damage.
PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS WILL BE A VIRTUAL EVENT!
When you register for the event, please include your e-mail address and your choice for character class. (Character classes include: Barbarian, Death Priest, Scavenger, Urchin, Beastman, Robot, Vek (raptorfolk), and Sorcerer.)
